Lip Blok® mouthpieces are a simple yet effective way to promote oral motor skills. They naturally exercise the mouth muscles to encourage tongue retraction, lip closure, and cheek tension. They also prevent individuals from thrusting the tongue forward, biting the straw for stability, or putting the straw too far into their mouths.

Lip Bloks come in three different lengths – 3⁄4” (yellow), 1⁄2” (blue), and 1⁄4” (turquoise). Start with the longest 3⁄4” length. Once the individual becomes accustomed to that length, switch to the 1⁄2”, and then finally to the 1⁄4”. Or, start with a flexible Lip Blok® (orange or magenta) and gradually trim the stem over time. This hierarchy slowly teaches individuals to put less and less of the straw into their mouths. When only 1⁄4” is inside the mouth, fluid is deposited in the front of the mouth where it is easier to manage and less likely to cause coughing or aspiration. With shorter lengths, you also get a better oral motor workout, as the tongue retracts more, the lips seal better, and the cheeks have more tension.

Each Lip Blok fits into most standard drinking straws (measuring approximately .25" in diameter).  The Flexible Lip Bloks can also be pressed over most Krazy Straws.  This kit includes one of each Lip Blok™ (the three sizes plus the flexible version in magenta and orange).  Cups and straws sold separately.  Or, you can add compatible straws from the pull-down menu above.  If you're wanting to use these Lip Bloks with our tubing straws, please note that the flexible Lip Bloks (magenta or orange) will not work.  The rigid Lip Bloks (yellow/turquoise/blue) are a tight fit with tubing straws, but they will fit.
